Asafoetida Powder - Strong Digestion System

To soften the strong flavor and aroma of asafoetida powder, it must be boiled in fat. Butter may be used instead of oil or ghee, which is how it's usually done. Tempering is a traditional Indian method of roasting spices in oil to pour over food, such as dal (lentil curry), to enhance taste and aid with digestion. The majority of recipes just ask for "a pinch," therefore asafoetida is really used very sparingly. However, if you're meticulous about your measurements, you may measure out anywhere from 1/16th to 1/8th teaspoon.
